DOMAINE DES MARNES BLANCHES NATURAL WINES

Domaine des Marnes Blanches

Sainte Agnès, Jura, France

Géraud and Pauline Fromont are two brilliant winemakers and Jura natives. The couple met while studying winemaking in viticulture school and created Domaine des Marnes Blanches when they returned to the Jura in 2006.

They have farmed organically from the outset and are now Ecocert certified. Today the Fromonts have 12 hectares in total spread over four villages in the Sud-Revermont: Cesancey, Vincelles, Gevingey and Sainte Agnès.  The region was quite a natural choice for the two Jurans– considering the rich and varied soil this land has to offer.

As with most Jura producers, the pair produce a variety of Cuvees ranging from ouillé whites, to sous-voile whites, to Crémants (white and rosé) single variety reds, and a tasty Vin de Paille.  They work with all native yeast.  They recently built a functional winery in Ste-Agnès which gives them space to vinify and age every parcel separately in stainless steel or neutral casks.  Sulphur is used sparingly for their white wines (added once following soutirage pre-bottling – total around 25mg/l), and not at all for their reds.
